Dental Hygiene

We recommend dental hygiene appointments at least every six months with one of our professional hygienists.  Over time plaque builds up, and subsequent gum disease, which happens when, the bacteria in plaque attacks our gums below the surface to make them red and inflamed. This is one of the most common sources of tooth decay and tooth loss in the UK today.

We want to play an important path reducing these health problems with your dental hygiene appointment, which will include the following:

  • A gentle yet thorough clean of your teeth to remove the build-up of harmful plaque
  • Removal of odour causing bacteria for a fresh breath
  • Air polish to remove any light stains for a sparkling clean smile
  • Soft tissue checks to ensure healthy gums
  • Advice on how to effectively brush and floss your teeth

The perfect dental hygiene routine

It's important to look after your teeth and gums in between appointments with your hygienist. Practice this simple dental care routine each day, and you’ll find it easy to reach optimum dental health:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, focusing on each tooth as you clean
  • An electric toothbrush can be used for an even more thorough clean
  • Rinse your mouth out with an antibacterial mouthwash after brushing
  • Floss once a day to remove plaque and tartar stuck in between your teeth
  • Debris and bacteria lingering on your tongue can be removed with a tongue scraper
